The Foil Buddy Tool titanium Torx – review

Every now and then, a small product can make me very enthusiastic! The Foil buddy titanium torx tool is one of them. Take it along in your wetsuit, and change your foils setup or tighten some bolts while your add it!

For years I have been taking my L shaped tools along in my wetsuit. Which isn’t always the most comfortable, but also, they will rust! Some RVS tools are better than others, but still, give it time and they will rust and break more easily.
I searched for titanium tools, but they are crazy expensive. Researching titanium tools or just bits, a lot of time, I found RVS products with a titanium coating. You pay more, but in the end you’ll have the same rusty result.

The Foil buddy tool is the tool you can take along. You almost don’t noticed it, as it made of plastic, in which the titanium bits are incorporated. Plastic won’t rust, and titanium usually wont either! The plastic in combination with its design gives a comfortable feeling to your skin. Compared to a normal tool with points sticking out in your skin. When you like to use the tool, you can seperate it in 2 pieces. Each peace holding a torx bit, you hold the plastic part to turn it and exert force. You can tighten bolts well, but not as much as you be able to do with a large L-shaped tool. If your foil setup needs maximum tightening of the bolts, this might not be enough. But for changing foil positions on the t-nuts of the board this should be more then enough. Because of its design, you cannot make 360 degrees rotations on mast to board-bolts, as you will hit the mast. But for quickly moving the mast, and all other connection the buddy tool works very well.

The foil buddy titanium tools comes with two different size options. Both used the most in the industry. You will get tx forty and tx thirty or tx forty-five and tx thirty, which refer to size of the tool and opening of the bolt. TX meaning torx in short.

The foil buddy comes with a rope to put around your neck, the tool itself can go in your wetsuit. But you can also take it along in a pouch. If you would drop it in the water, it will float.
As it comes in bright fancy colors, you won’t lose it very quickly.

If you like to make adjustments to your gear at the beach, or even in the water. This is a must have tool!
